The Great Physician desires to heal you

“When He went ashore and saw a great throng of people, He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick” (Matthew 14:14 TAB).

Our God is a compassionate and merciful God. Contrary to what some people think, He takes no delight in seeing His people sick. Rather, He wants to see His people living in good health and that is why He is always ready to heal those who are sick. In the Book of Jeremiah we read “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17KJV).

Throughout the Scriptures, we see how readily God is willing to heal. In the Old Testament, He used the prophet Elisha to give instructions to Naman the leper to go and dip himself in the River Jordan seven times and receive his healing. We also see God hearing the cry of King Hezekiah, restoring his health and giving him another fifteen years to live.

In the New Testament we have many examples of Our Lord healing the sick. For example, we are told that blind Bartimeus was sitting by the highway begging when he heard some noise around him. On asking what was happening, he was told that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. He immediately began to shout “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me (Mark 10:47). He kept shouting until he got the attention of the Master and received his healing. We are also told about the woman who had suffered from an infirmity for twelve years. The Bible says she had visited many doctors and spent all her money but was not healed. In faith, she touched the hem of His garment and was not only healed but made whole. Jesus healed many more people including the ten lepers and the lame man at the Pool of Bethesda.

Jesus is always willing and certainly able to heal. Are you in need of a healing today? Why not call out like blind Bartimeus or reach out and touch the hem of His garment like the woman with the issue of blood and watch Him do only what He can do.

Friend, remember there is still a Balm in Gilead.

Prayer:

Lord, today I acknowledge that you are the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. I know that you are still in the business of healing your people and that you are not only willing but you are able to heal me of (name it) and to make me whole. So today, I ask for your healing power and I shall certainly not forget to give you all the praise and all the glory. Thank you for hearing this prayer in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
