A Month of Prayer for Families and NationsFriend, praise the Lord! I hope you are fine and have been well kept by The Master, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. My wife and I are well and are grateful to God for His keeping power.
Thank you to all who took time to fast and pray this past month. My prayer is that all that you lifted up to God will be answered in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Friend, has it occurred to you that recently the only kind of news we hear are discouraging. All around there seems to be nothing but gloom and darkness. If it’s not the economy, it’s the fires in Australia, the volcanic eruption in South America, the fighting in Sudan, the crisis in Zimbabwe etc etc. The list seems endless. What should be our response as Christians and more specifically as Intercessors?
Friend, we have to Pray. This month our focus will be on prayer for families (many which have lost literally everything – either through the fires or the economy) but also to pray for the nations. Hence, March will be a Month of Prayer for Families and Nations.
In Habakkuk 3:17-19, the Bible says “ Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places...” Habakkuk reminds us of the position we are to take as believers in these times where everything seems gloomy. Friend, your destiny is not determined by the economy, the stock market or unemployment statistics. Your destiny is in the God of your salvation. Habakkuk said even if “the fig tree does not blossom”; also even if there is no “fruit in the vines”, that is to say, even if lights seem to be turning off all around you. Are you getting bad news after bad news, or does it seem as if your business is not prospering as it should – know the source of your joy, The God of your salvation.
The Israelites used olive oil in their food, for worship, as medicine, for lighting their lamps, for anointing and much more. So for the “labour of the olive to fail”, meant that they would be in a state of desperation. We are told that apart from the labour of the oil failing, “the fields” yielded “no meat”. But in spite of this, Habbakuk said, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation and that is what he is calling us to do also. When we rejoice in the Lord, The God of our salvation, then we will receive strength. Strength in our feet. Yes, we will have feet “like hinds feet”. We will be able to jump to the new levels that the Lord wants us to reach. He will strengthen us and we will be able “to walk upon our high places”. God’s ultimate desire for every Believer is for us to walk in our high places. Friend, the key to be able to do so is to rejoice in the Lord. Remember the Bible says in Isaiah 12:3 “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” Friend, the well of protection is open; the well of favour is open, and according to Revelation 5:12 we have a well of power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory, and blessing. It is up to you to purpose to rejoice in the Lord no matter the circumstances.
This month, let us take time to pray for all those families going through tough times that they will look unto God the Author and the finisher of their faith. Let us ask God to renew their strength. If you know of such a family, I encourage you to pray for them and if possible call them and even visit them. Take pen and paper and those that you read about in the newspapers, or even watch on TV write down their names and pray for them. You can pray for all the families affected by the fires in Australia that the Lord will restore them. There are many who have been laid off from work; others have their houses on foreclosure. Friend, whoever it is pray for them. Take a day and specifically call on God on behalf of these families. Destroy the spirit of suicide, self pity and depression in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Destroy the spirit of divorce, separations, quarrelling, disagreements etc. Pray for unity within the family. Pray for understanding. Pray for divine provisions in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Pray that God will restore joy in these homes and that they will know that the Lord will never leave them nor forsake them. Pray for those that do not know the Lord that He will be known to them and accepted in their hearts. Pray that God will grant these dear ones their daily bread in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. Rebuke lack, rebuke sickness and decree the grace of God to abound in these households in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. I decree that as you pray for others, God will visit you in every area of your need in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Take time also to pray for all nations where disasters have taken place. As a matter of fact let us pray for all the nations that God will visit the leaders of the world and fill them with wisdom to rule. The Bible commands us to pray for those in authority. Let us pray that the hearts of all leaders will be willing to seek God’s wisdom and counsel in their affairs. Let us pray that God will grant our leaders good advisers. Let us pray for all the rapid response departments – the fire department, the medical first responders, the police force, the army etc. Let us also ask God help us to turn away from every wickedness. Let us ask Him to forgive us our trespasses, grant us a spirit of humility and heal our land according to His promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14. There is much more however, let us ask God by His Holy Spirit to guide us in the prayer for our nations.
It is my prayer that God will anoint you with a spirit of intercession for families and nations in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
The Lord said in Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Thank God, He found you! The Lord keep you and your entire household in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.,”
