Grab it and believe it
"…..the God who gives life to the dead and calls those things that are not as though they were. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be” (Romans 4:17b-18)
We are told in the Bible that God appeared to Abram when he was 99 years old and gave him a number of promises including making him the father of many nations. At the time, this seemed absolutely impossible because not only was Abram 99 years old, his wife Sarah was 90 years old. But God sees differently from us. While we only see the present circumstances, that which we know as a fact, God sees the totality of things. The Bible says He knows the end from the beginning.
Abraham believed God. In fact the Bible says he did not stagger at God’s promises but was fully persuaded that God would do what He had promised (Hebrews 11:11-12). We know that God brought to pass every single one of those promises.
When God spoke to Ananias concerning Paul, He said “...he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before he gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my names sake (Acts 9:15-16). God had already seen all that would befall Paul because of His stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
God is still in the business of bringing His Word and promises to pass. The Bible tells us that His Word never returns to him void (Isaiah 55:11). Many of us have not fully comprehended this or we just chose not to. Once God has said it, our job is to grab it and believe it.
Friend, has God given you a promise or some promises that are yet to be fulfilled? If so, you need not worry because they shall come to pass. You see, He is still calling those things that are not as though they were.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your promises towards us. Thank you that you have not left us as orphans but we have a God who delights in bringing to pass that which he has promised. Cause us to be like Abraham who was not shaken but kept his eyes on You even though everything around him seemed contrary to what you had promised. We thank you and bless you in Jesus Precious Name. Amen
