Its good to serve Him

“For thou Lord wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12)

Contrary to what many people think there are great benefits in serving the Lord. If there was nothing to gain from serving Him, many would not have laid down their lives for the Gospel. The disciples certainly knew that there was much to gain from following Him that is why when Jesus asked them if they too wanted to leave Him Peter was quick to declare “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). They knew that there is safety in serving the Lord. Serving the Lord brings joy unspeakable and peace that passes all understanding. When you serve the Lord, He causes you to triumph over your enemies. That is why David said “By this I know that you are well pleased with me, because my enemy does not triumph over me (Psalm 41:11)

Another benefit of serving the Lord is the favor he bestows on you. When God’s favor is upon you, those doors that were hitherto closed to you will be opened. With the favor of God upon you, you are bound to have favor with man. There are many in the Bible who can testify to the benefit of God’s favor upon their lives. As a result of God’s favor upon him, Joseph found favor with Portipher, the prison warden and with Pharaoh. Esther knew that it had to have been the favor of God that won her favor with king. Daniel and the three Hebrew children, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego knew that it was God’s favor upon them that won them favor with the prince of the eunuchs and ultimately with the king. But who better to talk about God’s favor than David. From a shepherd boy, God propelled him to kingship then caused him to triumph against his enemies on every side.

Friend, the favor of God is available to all. But you have to know Him and serve Him to be able to benefit from what He has. In other words, you have to be a part of the family and be in a position to appropriate the promises. Today, if you do not know Him., you can. If you do know Him, but you are not walking right, repent and get back in line so that his promises can be made available to you.

Friend, it is good to serve Him!!!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for all the benefits that you have made available to us your children. Help us Lord to be in right standing with you so that we can appropriate these promises and benefits. Thank you for your favor which is surrounding us like a shield right now. We thank you and bless you in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
