How big is your vision?

“For all the land you see I will give it to you and your posterity for ever” (Genesis 13:15)

Trouble had been brewing between the herdsmen of Lot and Abraham because they both had many flocks and herds but the land was not able to nourish and support them. Being the wise man that he was, Abraham called his nephew, Lot, and asked him to choose whatever area of land that pleased him and to go and settle there along with his possessions. Lot chose the valley of Jordan to the east which was lush and green.

After Lot left, God spoke to Abraham and asked him to look as far as his eyes could see. and that whatever he saw would be given to him and his posterity forever. Abraham had a choice. He could either chose to see a little distance or he could stretch his vision and see as far as possible. According to God, whatever he saw, he would get.

The God who spoke to Abraham is still the same today. He will give us as much as we are able to receive. In fact, He is willing and able to give us exceedingly and abundantly above all that we could ever ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). The Word says that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1), that He owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and that, silver and gold belongs to Him (Haggai 2:8). In other words, everything is under His auspices.

Abraham had a big vision and God’s promise was fulfilled in his life. How big is your vision? How far are you willing to see? Remember that Joseph dreamt big and became second in command only to Pharaoh. God wants us to see far, dream big and ask largely this 2007. He has promised that if we ask in His name we shall receive (John 14:14).

In 2007, may our vision be enlarged to see all that God has made available for us. May we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and then believe that all other things will be added unto us. Amen.

Prayer:

Lord, we thank you for bringing us to the beginning of another year. Thank you for seeing us through 2006 and enabling us to see 2007. We give you thanks and praise you for your mercies which are new each morning, for your faithfulness and your goodness towards us. Lord, this 2007, we purpose to enlarge our vision. We desire more of you. In 2007, we purpose that we will receive all that you have in store for us. Nothing shall pass us by in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen. We position ourselves to receive all that you have for us in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen and Amen.
