Happy Mother’s Day

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

(Proverbs 31: 10-15)

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. (Proverbs 31: 25-31)

It is so easy in the current fast-paced society in which we live to forget the enormous task that mothers undertake in raising children and maintaining the home. Thank God for Mothers Day, a day when we should reflect and appreciate our mothers for all that they have done for us, not only for being the vessel God used to bring us into this world and raising us but also in imparting to us priceless virtues.

Mothers, know that you are:-

(a)   Priceless

The writer of the Book of Proverbs asks a question; Who can find a virtuous woman? Her price is above rubies. He is saying that a capable, intelligent, virtuous woman and what she imparts, cannot be bought. Riches cannot buy a virtuous woman.

(b)   A Lifetime Treasure

House and riches are the inheritance from fathers, but a wise, understanding, and prudent wife is from the Lord. (Proverbs 19:14). A virtuous woman, a virtuous mother, becomes a living epistle of God’s favor in the home that God allows her to be in. She becomes a lifetime treasure, a true blessing, a fountain of joy and peace, a reconciler to the whole house. All the days of her life she radiates goodness and mercy and not evil, becoming a light that cannot be hid in the home.

(c)    Industrious & Hardworking

She is a hard worker, one who provides for the home. She rises up early with thoughts of what the children will eat, what the husband will eat, what the children will wear, etc. She does not just sit and eat the fruit of idleness but she pursues work. She is not a lover of sleep who lets poverty overtake her, but an early riser, never giving up but believing God for daily bread.

(d)   All Round Mother

A Strong Woman, A kind Woman, A caring Mother, A Blessed Mother, one that fears the Lord. Her own household calls her blessed. She does not pretend to be one thing outside the home and another in the home. Her testimony is consistent. Her Children are happy to call her blessed and they see the evidence in her lifestyle. Her whole life is a testimony of God’s goodness to the Family and everyone sees God’s goodness exemplified in Her life.

Prayer:-

Father, thank you for the Mothers you have given us and those that you have brought our way. Thank you for these virtuous women; these priceless treasures that you have given us. Good Lord, help us to cherish them and love them. May we be a blessing to them as they have been to us and may you keep them and continue to use them to shine as virtuous Mothers in all the areas of their life.

Lord, we pray for those that have not been told how much they are appreciated; Father, minister to their spirit and let them hear your still small voice telling them that you love them in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Happy Mother’s Day.
