Call Him and He will answer
Call unto me and I will answer……….” (Jeremiah 33:3)
The armies of the Moabites, Ammonites and some of the Meunites came together and declared war against King Jehoshaphat of Judah. King Jehoshaphat feared because he knew it was impossible for the army of Judah to defeat this mighty army that was coming against them so he did the only thing he knew to do. He proclaimed a fast and gathered the people of Judah together to seek the Lord. King Jehoshaphat then prayed calling on God for help saying “….Our God will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do but our eyes are upon you” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God responded to the cry of His people through Jahaziel the son of Zechariah who said “Listen King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem. This is what the Lord says to you, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battles is not yours but God’s…….” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
Hezekiah, another King of Judah faced a similar situation. This time it was King Sennacherib of Assyaria who came against the people of Judah. He used every trick in the book to intimidate them. But the Bible tells us that King Hezekiah and Isaiah, the prophet, the son of Amoz prayed and God answered by sending an angel to destroy every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the King of Assyria and he returned in shame to his home country where he was killed by one of his sons (2 chronicles 32:21).
Throughout the Bible, we see the Lord coming to the aid of His people as they called unto Him in their time of trouble. For example, in the Book of Psalms we see King David calling on the Lord to deliver him from his enemies and was delivered (Psalm 120:1).
Friend, are you in a battle right now? Is the enemy coming against you with every conceivable arsenal? Is he trying to intimidate you and make you believe that there is no hope and no way out for you? What have you done about it? Why not emulate King Jehoshaphat, King Hezekiah and King David and call unto God. If He answered them, He will surely answer you. Remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love and a sound mind. Receive the words God spoke to King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah “Do not be afraid or discouraged …For the battle is not yours but God’s” God has never lost a battle and He is not about to lose this one.
Friend, call Him!!!
Prayer:
Lord, we thank you that we do not have to be afraid of the threats of the enemy. Help us to always remember that you are a God that never changes and that what you did for King Jehoshaphat and King Hezekiah, you can do for us. We cancel and destroy every spirit of fear that would paralyze us so that we are unable to lift up our voices and call unto you for help. We receive the spirit of power, love and of a sound mind. Thank you for fighting our battles, those seen and unseen. We thank you and we bless you in Jesus Precious Name we pray. Amen.
