There is power in agreement

Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:19)

It has always been God’s desire that His people be in unity because in unity there is power. And (now) I am no more in the world, but these are (still) in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep in Your Name in the knowledge of yourself, those whom you have given me that they may be one as We (are one) (John 17:11TAB). Also in Psalm 133:1 the Word of God declares “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. When God’s children are united they are a mighty force against the enemy. The enemy on the other hand rejoices when he sees that God’s children are disunited because he can seize that opportunity to devour them one by one.

The enemy knows the Word of God and is aware of God’s promises that if God’s children get together and agree on a matter it shall be done for them. He knows that God’s children can join forces to pray and bring down the powers of darkness. So in order to avoid the threats that God’s children pose to him and his kingdom, he brings confusion, hurt, hatred and unforgiveness in their midst.

There are many examples in the Bible of God’s children agreeing concerning a matter and getting the victory. For example, after Esther heard of the plight of her people and Mordecai told her she had an obligation to see to it that they are not destroyed as Haman had planned, Esther decided to go in to the king. However,  she first asked Mordecai to gather all the Jews in Shushan and fast for three days and she would do the same after which she would go in to the king. Esther did go in to the king and found favour (Esther 4:6). Another example is that of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego who agreed that they would not defile themselves with the king’s food. At the end of ten days it was said that “their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in the flesh than all those who ate the provision of the king’s meat (Daniel 1:15)

Friend, are you associated with those who are like-minded with you? Do you have someone or some people with whom you can agree concerning a matter? Remember that there is power in agreement.

Prayer: Lord, you have called your people to be a united people. Cause us to put aside everything that divides us so that the enemy will not get a foothold. Instead, let there be unity among your people so that we can fight against the powers of the enemy and brimg down his kingdom. We ask this in Jesus Mighty Name.
